Fall Sports Summarized

Nardin Academy Athletics have always been known to be fierce. Gators dedicate themselves to practice and their hard work pays off during the game. Nardin’s fall sports teams started the athletic year off strong and exerted Nardin athletes as an unstoppable power. As the season came to a close, fans sat on the edges of their seats as their favorite athletes blew their minds.

Jackie D’Orazio, Nardin’s Assistant Athletic Director, provides how the teams finished their seasons:

Junior Varsity Cross Country took 1st place in the All Catholic Championship.  Kaitlyn Vogel, Hannah Rashad and Meredith Dirr placed 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively.

Varsity Cross Country finished their league season undefeated,  winning the All-Catholic Championship with 38 points. The team had 7 runners finish in the top 18.  The team will send 7 members to race at the NYS Federation championships.

Varsity swimming finished 2nd in the All Catholic Championship meet.  Four 1st place finishes include the 400 yd Freestyle Relay of Nicole Marchese, Abby Gioia, Megan Jermak and Veronica Bargnesi; 100 yd Backstroke won by Megan Jermak; 100 yd Freestyle won by Veronica Bargnesi; 200 yd IM won by Megan Jermak.  Sophomore Megan Jermak qualified for the NYS State Championship swim meet in the 100 yd backstroke for the 2nd year in a row.

Varsity Soccer advanced to the Semifinals of the Monsignor Martin Championships.  2nd team All Catholic Selections include Emily DenHaese, Shannon Graham and Arielle Huber.  Abby Molloy was named 1st team All Catholic and 2nd team ALL WNY.

Varsity Golf completed an undefeated season.”

Varsity Volleyball advanced to the Semifinals of the Monsignor Martin Championships. Amanda Chmiel was selected to the All Catholic 2nd team.  

Varsity Golf completed an undefeated season.  Hayley Mahoney placed second in the All Catholic Championship match. Along with Mahoney, Amie Scherrer and Emily Lane will represent Nardin at the NYS Championship match in May.  

Varsity Rowing competed at the Head of the Welland with finishes that included Junior 8 finishing 2nd and 8th; Junior Lightweight finishing 2nd and the Junior 4 finishing 1st and 8th.  At the Head of the Niagara, every Nardin boat entered finished 1st or 2nd including both Varsity 4’s, both Varsity 8’s and the Lightweight 8.

Evidently, Nardin athletics during the fall season started out on a great foot and truly portrayed Nardin’s student athletes’ abilities! Look forward to the winter and spring season, Go Gators!
