Last Sunday, Attorney General William Barr sent lawmakers a letter describing the details of special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into the Trump Campaign.

This letter came after a two-year investigation in which Special Counsel Mueller studied countless campaign documents, spent hours interviewing anyone and everyone related to the campaign – except President Trump himself – and reviewed the actions of Trump allies.

Everyone will soon be able to read it on their own.”

— Attorney General William Barr

The release of this letter does not mark the release of the full Mueller report. The full report is expected to be released in the coming weeks, hopefully providing even more answers to questions about Trump’s conduct. Although only part of the report has been released, the letter did inform lawmakers of one very important detail: there was no collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia.

Mueller’s report, therefore, supports Trump’s previous statements that his campaign did not collude with Russia.

As for claims that Trump obstructed justice, the Mueller report does not provide a definitive answer.

What was the Mueller Probe?

There is a lot of information to be understood from the close of Mueller’s investigation, but why did this investigation begin in the first place?

The investigation had a few key objectives. The first was to determine if Trump colluded with Russians to win the presidential election.

The second purpose of the investigation was to determine if Trump or his allies had obstructed justice.

What is obstruction of justice?

Obstruction of justice is a crime in which a person attempts to sway a trial or investigation illegally. This means that anyone who tries bribing or blackmailing government officials to come to a favorable conclusion in an investigation is obstructing justice.

President Trump has been accused of obstructing justice because some people believe that he influenced the FBI investigation into his campaign. No definitive conclusion has been made about these claims.

So did Trump work with the Russians?

According to the Mueller investigation, Trump did not collude with Russians to win the 2016 presidential election.

While this report does not conclude that the president committed a crime, it also does not exonerate him.”

— Special counsel Robert Mueller

Why did people think Trump colluded with the Russians?

In 2016, investigations found that Russia posted fake news stories and cyber attacks online against Hillary Clinton. The Mueller probe was an investigation into Trump’s connection to these Russian actions.

What happens now?

Now, the public awaits the release of the full Mueller report. However, it is clear that President Trump will not face charges for collusion with Russia.
