As Christmas spirit fills the air, the decorating frenzy begins.  The centerpiece of many people’s Christmas decorations, filled with twinkling lights and ornaments of great nostalgia, is the Christmas tree.  The scent of fresh air tickles your nose and snowflakes swirl around, a smile crosses your face as you walk up and a chorus hellos greet you; this is Evergreen Hills Christmas Tree Farm.

With the motto, “Where Family and Traditions Meet,” you know this place is truly special.  Owned by Heather Zywiczynski, a graduate of the Nardin Academy class of ‘93, and her husband, it is a place where people come to experience the true meaning of Christmas,  being together as a family. You get to pick and cut your own tree, it is a bonding experience for everyone young and old, sure to be full of giggles and funny photos.

“Everyone here is friendly, willing to lend a helping hand and spread the Christmas spirit,” Heather Zywiczynski says about the people who spend their time helping out on the tree farm. Mostly family members and college students. The people who work are a caring close knit group. And, when customers see the smiles on the workers faces, they often join in, resulting in snowball fights and rosy cheeks.

For those who are more indoorsy there is a craft shop to browse, complete with hot chocolate and cider. All things in the shop are handmade. They make the perfect gifts. You can even get reindeer food to leave out on Christmas. Rudolph gets hungry on his long trek around the world.

True the trees at home depot cost less, and it’s much less messy to get a fake tree. But, the experience of the tree farm makes it worth it in the end.  Nothing is quite like Evergreen Hills. “have fun, laugh and enjoy yourself,” the farm showcases the Christmas spirit in its own unique way.
