Rounding things out with a plot twist, the end of Riverdale’s first season in May left fans with questions and sparked excitement among viewers everywhere for the much-anticipated season two. After what for many felt like an endless five months, the season’s premiere aired on October 11 with the show’s fourteenth episode, “A Kiss Before Dying.” Setting the stage for what appears to be a more sinister plot than the last, the episode scratches the surface of a new mystery that haunts Riverdale.

Known for its vintage aesthetic, Riverdale highlights the lives of high schoolers Archie, Betty, Veronica, and Jughead as they explore the concept of love in the midst of several conspiracies involving the death of their friend Jason Blossom. As revealed in the season two trailer, the story picks up when Archie’s dad is shot, the event which served as a tantalizing cliffhanger in the season one finale. Revolving around finding the masked man who committed the crime, the plot will predictably thicken as the citizens of Riverdale ponder how to deal with the problems facing their community.

Besides having a general idea of the plot, what do we know about the upcoming season so far? Cast members KJ Apa (Archie Andrews), Lili Reinhart (Betty Cooper), Camila Mendes (Veronica Lodge), and Cole Sprouse (Jughead Jones), will be returning among others. The season will also consist of twenty-two episodes, which will air Wednesdays on CW at 8:00 pm.

To gauge the excitement of the Nardin community, I asked several students what they are most looking forward to:

“I’m excited for all the drama!”-Emily Cauley ‘19

“I’m excited to delve deeper into the character’s backgrounds and their unique relationships.”-Liesl Dietrich ‘19

“Archie. Just Archie.”-Nina Martineck ‘19

“I’m anxious to see if Archie’s dad survives and to find out who the shooter is. I’m also excited to see how they develop the next season after the first mystery was resolved.”-Grace Scott ‘20

After having seen the season premiere, I think its safe to say that the season will live up to its lofty expectation. Be sure to catch the next episode, which airs  Wednesday, November 3.
